Hello,

Me and my girlfriend planned an route from rotterdam to porto through spain. Our plan is as followed:

rotterdam -> san sebastian (stop in paris)
from san sebastian -> seville (stop in zaragoza)
from seville -> huevlo
from huevlo by bus to villa real sint antionius and then clim up by (local) trains to porto and from their travel back by plane to the netherlands.

We want to buy a global pass for 10 days were we are able to travel 5 days by train.

Our questions are:

what means 5 days of travel? is that mean that the hours of traveling by train are summed up for total 5 days (sow 5x24 hours able to travel by train) or 5 days travel by train were the number of travel hours don't have any influence.

On some trips we have very long waiting times (like 6 to 10 hours) is that normal? en is there not a other way to travel faster, (I expect that there will be more trains traveling to an certain place)

We planned by the interail site, is there anonther site to plan?

How are the nightrains called in spain?

How much extra are the reservations cost and were can you see that?

I hope to get answers from you!

bye!

Hi!

With a 5in10 InterRail pass you can travel on five full calender days within a 10 day period. The pass would be valid for instance from 2nd June 0000 until 11th June 2359 and you can travel on five days within this period from 0000 until 2359. You can make as many trips and changes during each day. Additionally there is the 1900 rule for night trains which is explained here (but you probably will have to opportunity to use that rule): https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

To plan journeys I always use the European Rail Timetable plus the schedule planners of DB or ÖBB: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Night trains in Spain are either called Trenhotel (HOT) or Estrella (ESTR) but on your route you wont have to possibility to use one of them - the only night train that would fit in your route is that from Paris to Hendaye on the way to San Sebastian.

You can find reservation costs for night trains in the link I posted above; for day trains have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

I hope I have answered your questions and you will support us and the free information on railcc, so please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

SnSeb is meestal Donostia-in the Basque language.
From HUELVA (there is nothing to see/do there) to Porto-into PT, take a bus to the Algarve, bus runs from Sevilla to Faro, you can get off at the east end of the train, in PT, but this hardly saves money and takes much more time. Times vary a lot with time of year.
Its cheaper to take a ES-bus to Ayamonte, border town, walk across to river, ferry across, then find estacao de comboio in VReal.
In main summer-as there are quota for IR-passholders, its often reported to be very, very hard to find seats for you in TGV in FR.

Hello!

Vila Real Santo António, first town in Portugal if you come from the route you´ve planned is my hometown!

I also recommend gettin the bus Huelva to Ayamonte, then take the ferry to Portugal(15min).

Train station is just 15min walk from the ferry and has signs pointing direction, very easy. Please send me a message if you need some help, or even a place to stay! Right now i live in Tavira, just 20min from Vila Real wich is a very nice small town if you want to visit! Have a nice trip!

Yes, it is a nice option. I do this some years ago in the another direction. If you have time, make a stop in Tavira, nice youth hostel and make a walking tour the waterfall.
