Hi there,
Our family plans to explore Western Europe this summer using train. We plan to start in Lisbon - Madrid - Marseille - Zurich - Luxembourg - Berlin or Lisbon - Madrid - Marseille - Zurich - Paris - London. The dates are pretty much set (3-4 days each place) and we see that we only use <10 days in 22 days travelling period. What would be the most economical to purchase? The Interrail (we live in Norway) or point-to-point?
Rgds,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia.
Just compare the prices at the booking websites and make your calculation. If you buy point to point tickets, please use the booking links bellow, as railcc gets via them a small commission to keep the website alive. For you the price is the same. Thank you.
Prices depends on your travel date. If you avoid Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon/evening, you will find good offers. As earlier you book, as cheaper the prices are.
Point to point:
Lisbon - Madrid: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/renfe[/ux] or RENFE
Madrid - Marseille: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Marseille - Zürich: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Zürich - Luxembourg: [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Luxembourg - Berlin: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
OR
Zürich - Paris: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Paris - London: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Interrail:
France and the Eurostar to London are Interrail hostile routes.
To find schedules and extra fees, have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Zürich to Paris is currently as well expensive with a reservation fee of about EUR 30 for Interrailers.
And Eurostar is EUR 75 with Interrail.
If you want to use Interrail, I recommend the route in direction of Berlin.
Then you have to pay extra for Lisbon-Madrid (night train), Madrid-Marseille (direct TGV train) and Marseille to Zurich.
Zurich to Luxembourg is free using the right connection, the same for Luxembourg to Berlin.

Peter,
Thanks for the tips. I had done some researches on the P2P yesterday, it seems that everything is OK apart from Renfe. Can't get the booking done from Lisbon to Madrid done. The website said schedule is not available. I'm getting worried about it. Is it quite normal? The date I'm looking for is 29-Jul.

Hi.
Yes, that's normal. Currently the booking is not available for Lisbon to Madrid. You will have to wait some more days. There is as well the little change in the European schedules on the 2nd weekend in June. This might be a reason as well. But no worries - there won't be big changes.
Peter :)
