In Paris Is it practical to get from Gare Est to Gare Lyon in one hour and 10 minutes (getting off a train from Germany and on a train to Spain)
Thanks

Hi David.
Walk to Gare du Nord: 10 minutes - if you come from the rail tracks, exit Gare d'Est on the right hand and you will find the signs to Gare du Nord.
At Gare du Nord use a local RER - lign D - in direction of Corbeil-Essonnes or Melun (direct, no changes).
Exit at Gare de Lyon
Total journey time: max 45 minutes!
Buy your ticket at a ticket machine: one-way, EUR 1,70
Note: at the stations Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord there are often long queues at the ticket machines.
Try to get a ticket already in the train to Prais if possible.

Thank you! :)

Thanks Peter - last year we stayed in a small hotel half way between l'Est and Nord, so I know where you are talking about. Hadn't thought of going to Nord to get to de Lyon. Think I'll go the long way round via the main street - don't fancy lugging the suitcases up that flight of stairs on the side street beside of the station.

Yes. That's right. The stairs are not that nice... ;)
Have a sunny trip, Peter :)

In fact you do now not really need to go out and into Nord: that RER-undergroundstation part is in the middel between the 2 and now has acces from the 2. Just follow signs.
Note that many metro machines do NOT take cash anymore, but all EU-bankcards, also for low amounts. It just eats time....
There are often warnings for heavy pickpocket/thieves presence in those RER trains, as they also connect into the airport.
Also; often you will be approached by people while waiting to buy some ticket-to cut the Q short. These may not work-you cannot see it, as its electronic, and/or may be kids or pensioners tickets-so you get a heavy fine when caught.
