Hi there,
I'm planning on traveling Italy-Austria-Germany this June. I have both a German and Japanese passport, but have lived in the UK for nearly three years for uni.
Can I get the Interrail for Germany even though I am a German citizen, as I haven't lived there in over seven years? What sort of proof of residency should I use? Which passport is more advantageous?
Thank you for your help, I feel quite confused! :)

Hi.
Officially the country you lived in the past six months is your country of residence. In your case the UK.
So you have to buy an UK Interrail pass which allows you to travel in Germany.
It doesn't really matters if you use your German or Japanese passport for it - but like you already wrote, you need documents that prove your residency in the UK. Do you have something official? From the city you live in ... it is always said that phone bills and bank account sheets/information which show your residency in a country are enough - but I personally have my doubts.
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)
Peter :)

Hi Peter,
Thank you so much for your swift reply. I'm going to try to get a proof of residence from my university.
Cheers!

Much better is something from the government, the local authority, the city you live in ... always a bit complicate.
