Hello there!
I'm planning to tour the Appenine Peninsula on a bike this summer, beginning in Milan, following Via Romea Francigena (http://www.routeyou.com/en/route/view/197145/cycling-route/via-romea-francigena-ev5.en) to Rome and then following the coast through Salerno, Catanzaro, Taranto and from there heading North, up until Ravenna. First I wanted to use couchsurfing but the whole journey will take about two months and to organise such a lot of cs hosts would be an immense undertaking. I decided to camp.
And here's the question.
In Poland there is an organisation (called PTTK) which created a chain of fare-free campsites, simply places where you can legally pitch a tent. As I heard, in Norway you can camp for free wherever you want for one night.
What I'm asking is: are there similar initiatives in Italy? It's hard to find information when you don't know where to seek it... Perhaps those of you who traveled Italy can give me a hint?
Thanks in advance :)
Ala
