Hi.
The best is to have a look at posts here: https://rail.cc/en/forum-rail-travel
There you will get some ideas.
It is not possible to propose you a route with a bit more details. Where do you start, where do you end? Do you prefer nature or cities with night life... do you want to spent a lot of money (Western Europe) or less money (Eastern Europe).....

Sorry for the late reply. Well my first journey is from London to Paris, so starting off there. I want to visit Rome and Lake Bled really, also end up in Amsterdam at the end of my Trip. So it's just planning were to go in between. Any suggestions? And this is on a 22 day continuous pass.

Also haven't got the biggest budget so maybe avoid visiting all expensive countries

Hi.
Okay, much better now ... :)
Paris-Milan the direct way is expensive.
Either travel by night train Paris-Nice, then border crossing to Italy at Ventimiglia, Florence or Pisa to Rome.
Other option: Paris to Switzerland (avoid the expensive direct high speed trains) and then this route crossing the Alps to Milan: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
In Italy, avoid the high-speed-trains (+ EUR 10 reservation) and use slower IC trains (+EUR 3, recommended) or often you can also use free regional trains.
Border crossing to Slovenia and Lake Bled: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
Then stay in the region ...
An amazing trip is: Lake Bled - Ljubljana - Zagreb - Split OR from Zagreb via Sarajevo and Mostar to Split (including a bus on the last part to Split, not expensive).
From Zagreb via Dubrovnik to Montenegro, for example Bar (also including inexpensive buses).
And then by day train (as the route is amazing) to Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bar-to-belgrade
Then continue to Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam ... it's also possible to add more stops if you like.
In general you find connections with details (also the buses in Croatia and to Montenegro) here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Thank you so much for the help, for the 22 days do you think that is too many countries? I want to visit the Alps whilst I am in the region as well. I have a budget in mind but what do you think a realistic budget is for the trip? This is after the expense for the pass itself, so money for accommodation food etc?

Hi.
It depends on your final route - but you can hop to a new place every day - if you want to do it is your decision. I don't know you in person and don't know if you prefer relaxing or to make as much kilometres a possible.
To calculate daily costs, read here: https://rail.cc/en/overall-costs
Depends as well if you drink every day three litres of beer and if you eat twice a day at McDonalds, or if you prefer saving some money by for example cooking in the kitchen of a hostel.

Hi, yeah I looked at the link at it comes out at pretty much what I was thinking. It will probably be mostly takeaways and eating out. I also think it will be a mixture of relaxation and covering distance, I want to get to as many places as I can but when I get to these places I want to be able to enjoy them without rushing off straight away.
Thanks for your help

Actually there's one more thing, with the route I suggested is there any additional prices for trains etc?

I've thought of a possible route now, although I may add more places depending on whether you think this one is realistic. Was thinking of getting a plane to Pula in Croatia and starting my journey there. Then from Pula - Ljubljiana - Lake bled - Graz - Semmering - Vienna - Budapest - Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam - Belgium - Paris - London
What do you reckon?

Hi.
Easy to do without extra reservation fees.
Use the schedule planner here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Have a look at the main connections here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
But pay attention from the Netherlands to Belgium and France, avoid there the THALYS trains and use free IC or local trains: https://rail.cc/blog/amsterdam-brussels-train/
For Paris to France, don't use the Eurostar train with Interrail as it has an extra reservation of EUR 75. Either buy a special price ticket [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Or use a ferry or bus - see above at the connection link.

Hi again peter,
I'm thinking of making some changes to my trip, starting off in Switzerland and visiting the Alps in Switzerland, Italy, going to lake bled then visiting the Alps in Austria aswell. What's the best route to take?
