Can anyone help me?
My friends and I plan to be in Marseille in time for Bastille day on the 13th of July, however we need to spend the time between the 8th, which is when we leave Bruges, and the 13th. Does anyone have any advice or could recommend anywhere to go before Marseille? We were thinking of lauterbrunnen in switzerland however it seems really difficult to get from there to Marseille. We are going to purchase a 30 day continuous global past.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe.
Will you travel some days before to get to Bruges - or/and after your stay in Marseille?
If yes, what are the places you want to see... then it's possible to plan a nice route around Europe. :)
From Bruges you could travel via Brussels, Amsterdam to Cologne. Then along the River Rhine Valley for example to Zurich.
Zurich to Italy crossing the Alps this way (free for Interrailers, but an amazing trip!!): https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
Then it is easy to get from Milan (maybe even an other stop somewhere in Northern Italy) via Ventimiglia (border station where you change), Nice to Marseille.
And please buy your official Interrail pass this partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to support the free information you get here on railcc. Thank you! :)

Hi Peter,
I'm sorry I should have specified that Bruges is our first point of call and after Marseille we plan on travelling through Italy (venice, maybe como) then Croatia (zagreb), Hungry, Romania, Austria, Czech republic, Germany and finishing in Amsterdam. We basically need to spend 5 days between Bruges and Marseille. I really like scenic routes and places a bit off the beaten track. I don't know if this helps?
I will buy my ticket from rail dude.
Best wishes,
Joe

Hi Joe!
Trains from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen and in the whole Jungfrau area are not included in InterRail, you would have to buy extra tickets for that trip. Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen would be about 6€ one way so not too expensive however to get up to Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg or even Jungfraujoch would be more expensive.
Other scenic routes in Switzerland would be the trip up to Mount Rigi (costs extra as well) or the Golden Pass route from Luzern to Montreux via Interlaken.
Of course the Bernina line (Peter posted the link to the blog already) is fantastic however might not fit that well into your travel plans.
In France you could think about going to Lyon, then Le Puy en Velay and via the Cevennes Railway to Nimes. Or, take the night train to the south and then travel with the Petit Train Jaune: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Thanks for supporting. :)

If you want to go through switzerland you can maybe go from brugge to zurich (think about the night train form amsterdam - so you can be there in the morning) and than via the scenic alp routes to Milano. From Milano you can go on to Torino and via tendaroute to Nice. This is also a scenic route and very nice.
