Going interrailing for 15 days in the summer. Already booked Eurostar tickets;
Arrive in paris on 11/08 at 9pm and leave paris at 6pm on 27/08 so essentially 15 days if discount first night.

Proposed route is Paris > Amsterdam > Berlin > Prague > Lake Bled > Rome > Sorrento > Back to paris.

Plan to spend 2 nights in each city with maybe a 3 night somewhere. Also break up the return journey to Paris into two with a stop somewhere in between as it's a long trip!
Is this feasible or is the distance we're trying to cover simply too much in regards to train journey's taking up a lot of time - not saying I dislike long train journeys just want a reasonable time in each city too.

Thanks in advance.

its very well doable. Note that you have to plan if you want the daytime trains or overnite (not possible for short trips) and that eats for daytime at least half of day 1.
Potential pitfalls if you care about money:
Par-AMS;- so many times asked its all in some FAQ. Avoid the Thalys or book/pay for it (from 29 eur) and have a shorter IR.
Does it HAS to be Bled )not a town at all)? many other nice lakes more on the direct route-so requiring less awkward trips.
Overnite IT-FR is not IR-friendly at all-private Thello train. Consider flying back (try RYAN or EZ) direct from IT to UK

Thanks for your reply.

I'm aware of the need to make reservations and will address whether to reserve when I book everything.
Lake Bled is a personal request of the other half, so I think I'll have to settle for the diversion. :os
Cost is a slight issue and hence why I was thinking of getting train back to Paris from Rome. Can I not avoid the night train and have 2 long day trains with an option to spend a night in another city half way (South of France?)

Cheers.

Hi!

Lake Bled is not really a problem to include; you can reach it within a day from Prague and get to Rome within a day too.

There is only the Venice - Paris night train remaining (the one from Rome was withdrawn last year) which is operated by Thello. They now grant a 25% reduction for InterRail pass holders so this train still remains a rather expensive option but it is a bit better compared to the last years where you would had to pay full fare.
Anyway, I would also recommend to take another route and travel with one or two stops in between. Either take a high speed train to Milan, then get to a nice place in Switzerland for a day (I always recommend this fantastic route: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/) then continue to Paris; or travel along the coast towards Nice and continue to Paris from there.

You will only need reservations for (long distance) travel in Italy and France; between Paris and Amsterdam avoid the expensive Thalys trains (39€ reservation fee).
You probably think about getting a 15 days InterRail pass but I would recommend to go with the 10in22 which is much cheaper and 10 travel days are sufficient for your route.
Please support our work and the free information on our site by purchasing your tickets through [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you. :)

Thank you for your advice. Will definitely consider the scenic route!
