Hi,

Me and my friend are planning our Interrail trip through Spain, France, Italy & Greece in July/August with the Global Pass and seem to have nearly everything sorted.

We managed to reserve our seats online for most of our journeys in France & Italy using the voyages-sncf ( [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux] ) website with no problems, except when it came to reserving seats for the Spanish part of our journey.

We are travelling from Malaga-Madrid the 9th July
Madrid-Barcelona the 11th July
Barcelona-Marseille the 13th July

We weren't too bothered about the first two journeys because there seemed to be a lot of trains running each day to those destinations and we can probably hang about and get a later train if we need to, however it seemed like there was only 2 or 3 trains running from Barcelona-Marseille on the 13th and the website always comes up with an 'ERROR' or something similar when we try to reserve our seats online but not sure why.

Does anyone know if we can actually reserve these online or will have to reserve them via phone or at the train station in advance?

Thanks!

This has probably been answered somewhere already but it was taking a while to read through all the similar posts :os

Hi.
Malaga - Madrid: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
Madrid - Barcelona: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
Barcelona - Marseille: think about including the Little Yellow Train ( https://rail.cc/en/interrail/latour-de-carol-to-villefranche-de-conflent ) crossing the Pyrenees. It's amazing.
Overnight stop in Perpignan, then by free regional trains to Marseille along the coast. Additional stop for example: https://rail.cc/blog/scenic-train-cote-bleue/
Or the direct way in one day (also by free regional trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/barcelona-to-nice
In Italy (Depends on your route), you can travel a lot of routes for free by regional trains, no need to pay extra for high speed trains. Save your money and have a look at the railcc schedules: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
To support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Pete :)

Thanks Peter!

Looks like we can reserve our seats for the Malaga-Madrid and Madrid-Barcelona part of our trip through the links that you sent, however for Barcelona-Marseille for the 13th July it is just saying:
'Online prices are currently unavailable for the selected route. We apologize for any inconvenience.'

Do you think we would be able to reserve our seats for Barcelona-Marseille at any train station in France? We have accommodation booked in Marseille for the 13th anyway so kinda needing to be there on that date :)

Hi!

International AVE/TGV trains between France and Spain currently can only be reserved at stations in Spain or France since the booking system used for these trains is not connected (yet) to the booking systems of other railway companies.
As long as there are free seats, no problem to book at a station in France or Spain. Even if the train were full you could still reach Marseille within a day using regional trains.
