Hi there all

I'm planning my first ever trip away on my own and for the first opportunity I've ever had, I've got the opportunity to do something big and unforgettable, so I've chosen to go inter railing. I'm looking on this site though and there are a few things I don't understand (see pic).

I don't really understand what the green-coloured days boxes mean and also the recommended boxes. I guess I'm doing something wrong here... never really was good at route planning when I was doing it in maths (or geography - one of those) at school. Do those boxes mean it will take 5 days getting from Paris to Brussels?

Also, I've just noticed I had the wrong tab highlighted and found some extra boxes I'm not sure about after selecting InterRail...

What exactly do the colours denote in those pictures please? Please forgive if it's a silly question lol.

Thanks in advanced. Best regards

Garry

Hi Garry!

-) Green days boxes 1-7 stand for the days of the week: 1 = Monday 7 = Sunday You will find this notation of days in many printed timetables throughout Europe.
-) The recommended boxes show whether or not we recommend this particular connection, the more green boxes, the better. This is our personal opinion where we try to show whether a particular connection is cheap, fast, comfortable...
-) The extra fees boxes show how much you have to pay for an extra reservation when travelling with InterRail: Green = free, no extra reservation needed; red = very expensive extra reservation, better look for an alternative route
-) Please also note that these suggested connections are only a few examples of all available routes which we edit manually. We cannot show all possible connections nor can we update all minor changes that might happen during the year due to construction works etc... To search for more connections, use an online schedule planner as explained here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
-) Please support us and the free information you find on railcc by purchasing your InterRail ticket through our partner at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you ! :)
