Hi guys
Another query!! We've found a really nice hotel in Dubrovnik for 4 nights to finish off our holiday. Do you know if there is a night train from Bucharest to Croatia in On Sunday night 4th May ? I know we can't go direct to Dubrovnic either. We just want to make sure there is a train and we can be in Dubrovik on the Monday whatever time! Thanks

Hi!
No, there is no night train available. Bucharest to Croatia actually is quite a long trip, especially if you are going to Dubrovnik.
You could think about going from Bucharest to Belgrade https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bucharest-to-belgrade then to Podgorica in Montenegro https://rail.cc/en/interrail/belgrade-to-bar and then catch a bus to Dubrovnik (there is only one direct departure Podgorica - Dubrovnik in the morning so you might have to change in Herceg Novi): http://www.visit-montenegro.com/transport-bus.htm and http://www.libertasdubrovnik.com/voznired.pdf
Or you look for a direct bus Belgrade - Dubrovnik.
Another alternative would be to go through Budapest - Zagreb - Split: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bucharest-to-zagreb https://rail.cc/en/interrail/zagreb-to-split and take a bus Split - Dubrovnik
You see, it will take you much more time than just one night to get from Bucharest to Dubrovnik! :os

Wow didn't realise how tough it was to get there :'( Our interrailing ticket has finished so we have to pay for the journey now which I assume will be fairly pricey. If anyone has done this route before (Bucharest to Dubrovnik) any comments would be really appreciated!

Does anyone know if this is possible:
Bucharest -> Zagreb
Zagreb -> Split
Split -> Dubrobnik
Will this be too expensive if it's even possible?

Hmm..you could go from Bucharest to Timisoara (book a single ticket only to Timisoara, about 25€); then buy Banat Special to Belgrade for 14€ (schedule Bucharest - Timisoara - Belgrade has been posted above).
But from Belgrade it is a bit tricky to get to Dubrovnik...you could go by train to Podgorica (about 20€), then bus to Herceg Novi and connecting bus to Dubrovnik which will be about 30/35€ in total.
Bucharest - Budapest would be 46€ since you wont get a special fare at short notice; Budapest - Zagreb 29€ when booked in Budapest; Zagreb - Split ~25€ and Split - Dubrovnik probably around 20€...

Hi Flo
So I am reading we can go direct from Zagreb to Dubrovnik by bus www.buscroatia.com/zagreb-dubrovnik/
So if we get the night train from Bucharest 21.45 and arrive in Zagreb 20.49 and then maybe get the Bus from Zagreb at 22.30 arrive in Dubrovnik 08.15?
How much would this 24 hour train journey from Bucharest to Zagreb cost approx do you know?

That certainly would be an option.
Bucharest - Budapest should be 46€ plus reservation for the night train if you want; Budapest - Zagreb 29€, buy each ticket locally. You might also want the direct night train from Bucharest to Budapest as well which might be more comfortable since you do not have to change in Timisoara early in the morning and would have more time for a bit of sightseeing in Budapest.

No there is no direct train.
Options via Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/bucharest-to-zagreb
You can also go via Belgrade like I said before but this would require an overnight stop:
https://rail.cc/en/train/bucharest-to-belgrade and https://rail.cc/en/train/belgrade-to-zagreb
Like I said before you could also look for a bus Belgrade - Dubrovnik but there might be just connecting services; I would probably stick with the route via Budapest.
