Hi there,
Berlin: NOT Amadeus Hostel on Volta Strasse - no security and dirty. Prague: Hotel Hlavkova does very cheap singles and doubles and is near the river and 15 minutes walk from old town centre. Hope this is useful. Have a great trip.
Getting to the booking stage of this year's trip, anyone got any hostel tips for the following cities ...
Amsterdam-Hamburg-Berlin-Prague-Vienna- Budapest- Warsaw - Vilinius- Riga- St Petersburg- Tallin.
Im going with my girlfriend so private double rooms in hostels is the ideal (although not strictly neccessary) and ensuites aren't a priority.
I'm a newbie in most of these cities so all advice is greatly welcomed!
For Amsterdam I heard the Stayokay Hostels are quite nice, there are three of them, so it depends on what you want to visit, which hostel to choose. Go to www.stayokay.com. I hope this helps you.

Vilinius - VB Sleep Inn
very personal, very nice and helpfull staff, perfect location in the middle of the old town but very quiet located. kittchen. not too much beds. book in advance when you want to stay there during the summer months.
Budapest - Ginko Hostel
very quiet in a nice old building. if you want to stay at a small, clean place to relax, this hostel is okay. good location. I enjoyed it.

For Berlin I'd recommend the Baxpax in Kreuzberg, the location is awesome, but you'd have to book early as it's pretty popular.
