Hello :)
I just have one more question before I purchase, I've researched online but am still confused on what extra services I can use my interrail global ticket. I'll list what services i'm looking to use and whether they accept interrail for discount/full travel:
Paris:
- RER? can I use it on all RER services and the CDG to gare de nord service?
- Metro?
Milan:
- Metro?
Innsbruck:
- any bus service discounts to the airport?
Venice:
- Any discounts for boat travel?
Rome:
- Metro?
Munich:
- What services can we use it on?
Dusseldorf:
- U-bahn or trams?
Berlin:
- I'm guessing only S-Bahn and not u-bahn as with all europe?
Amsterdam:
- Regional trains and trains to airport and city only?
One more question is whether the interrail timetable on their site tells us which trains we cannot travel on with the ticket?
Thanks!

Hi!

RER: Yes, on the lines operated by SNCF. Should not be possible on the lines operated by RATP (these are Nanterre Prefecture to Cergy and Poissy on RER A and Gare du Nord to Robinson and Saint Remy on RER B); CDG to Gare du Nord is covered.
Metro: No

4 x No; in Innsbruck the closest train station to the airport is Hötting, 2km away from the terminal.

In Germany in general: Only S-Bahn services (green S sign), no tram or U-Bahn services.

Only trains, no metro, trams or buses.

I am not using this tool for planning; I use: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Excellent! Thats cleared up a lot!
I'm kind of hoping to avoid paying extra to get from CDG to gare de Nord. Looking on the map, the CDG TGV station has a link to gare de Nord to the north via Triangle de Vemars (http://carto.metro.free.fr/cartes/rer-idf/index.php?gpslat=48.993495&gpslon=2.478195&zoom=2). how do I find which service takes this route?
So on the RER I can use it on the SNCF parts of the line which are Line B (southern part including gare de nord) and the entire C, D and E line? Is there any sort of 'combined' travelcard I can purchase for RER and metro or RER and bus?

Well, from CDG to Gare du Nord, RER B is operated by SNCF so you should not have to pay. You will have to get a ticket at a ticket desk though to get through the barriers (at entrance and exit of the stations!); I havent been to CDG yet but used RER C from Paris to Etampes with InterRail already and had no troubles: just showed my IR ticket and got the free ticket to pass the barriers.
There are currently no services using that link on the Triangle de Vemars and if there were some, they would not run to Gare du Nord but around Paris plus being a TGV they would require a reservation. The last services using that link were the Cherbourg - Dijon and Le Havre - Strasbourg TGV.

But you just said the following above?
CDG to Gare du Nord is covered.
Also what is the situation with using interrail to/from AMS airport?

Yeah, the ticket is free. You just need it to get through the barriers. Show you IR pass at a ticket desk and you should get the free ticket - at least this is my experience from the RER C that is also operated by SNCF.

There are frequent trains operating from Schiphol to all Amsterdam stations. You can use them all with InterRail and dont have to pay extra. Depending on where you have to go to in Amsterdam you should take a train running either via Centraal (central station) or Zuid (south).
