I am trying to book a round trip train from Budapest to Deva, Romania in Sept of this year but having difficulty doing so. The response I get is that I can only reserve online via a DB-licensed travel agency. Any help?

Hi.
As you start in Hungary, you have to buy your ticket at the website of Hungarian railways. German railways doesn't sell online tickets for travelling from Hungary to Romania.
Go to [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux]
And pick up your ticket at the railway station in Budapest. For example in Budapest Keleti: main entrance turn right. Enter your 10 digit code in the ticket machine and you get your ticket - the ticket machine speaks several languages. It is easy and secure.
