Hi,
I'm planning my trip for April 2 2014 and am using the 22 day continuous Global Youth pass. My friends and I are spending one night in Brussels, getting the train to Amsterdam, spending another two nights there and then we are getting the night train to Warsaw. We will then travel to Krakow to stay for another two nights. After this we have another night train from Krakow to Budapest, where we will again, stay another two nights. From here we are travelling the Budapest to Ljubljana train departing @9.10 and are planning on getting off in Bled Lesce where we will stay another two nights. Following this we are getting the Ljubljana to Venice train departing Bled Jezero @8.34 and arriving in Venice @13.56.
From previous forum queries I have taken the advice given and decided on the Ljubljana-Venice train which stops off in Nova Gorica and departs from Gorizia. This was very helpful.
However, I am a little unclear about the train connections for the other train trips.
From Brussels to Amsterdam the 14.56 train which arrives in Amsterdam @18.32 have yellow stops in Antwerp and Roosendaal. I am a little unclear whether I have to change trains here like the Ljubljana-Venice train requires.
Furthermore, the Budapest-Ljubljana 9.10-18.30 have two stops highlighted in yellow. They are Vienna and Villach. Again, I am wondering whether we will have to change trains or even stations again. Especially since the stop in Villach lasts only from 16.46-16.53.
Finally, I have been unable to reserve seating on any of these trains through clicking into the links on the train schedules and connections on this page.
It is more than likely that I am missing something basic or reading the page wrong or just am failing to understand the connections and stops.
I would be very grateful if someone could give me a bit of a hand to explain these connections and how to book/reserve them online. And if these highlighted yellow stops require a change of train/station and purchase of another ticket.
Sorry for all the queries, I'm just trying to organise the trip as best I can,
Kind Regards,
CĂ©ileigh

Hi.
Yellow means: change the train.
Most trains (those which require a reservation, for example night trains) especially in Eastern Europe you can not book online. You have to do it at a railway station. This can happen as well in an other country or an other city than the city of departure.
The reservations you need are:
- night train Amsterdam-Warsaw: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/amsterdam-warsaw-en-447/91
Flow and I travelled by this night train (at least one part) last week and the seated wagon was completely empty in Amsterdam. So I think you easily get a reservation for it booking it only one day in advance, for example in Brussels.
- night train Krakow-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/krakow-budapest-en-402/124
Try to get it in Brussels or then in Krakow.
All other connections you mention are free to use.
Peter :)

Hi Peter,
That's great thanks very much. This is my first time interrailing so I'm still learning the ropes with all of this. Thanks very much for your swift reply.
