Hi!
This summer, I'm leaving for my first interrail trip with 3 friends. We are all from Lyon, France and we are going to start from Amsterdam to Berlin (night train)
Day train to Prague, then Krakow, Budapest (for the Sziget festival), Bratislava and Vienne.
After Vienna we would like to go to Ljubljana in Slovenia. But our problem is after Ljubljana, there are not that many train as I saw on railcc (I'm a beginner so maybe I missed several trains connections). Because we would like to go to Firenze and then Milano to get closer to Lyon.
Do you know if there is a Ljubljana / Firenze connection?

Or, we can skip Ljubljana and go to Salzbourg after Vienna, and then Firenze (there is a train from Vienna to Roma that stop in Salzbourg and Firenze). After Firenze, Milano maybe and back in France :)

My post may be a little bit messy I'm sorry ...
To sum up,
Which city is the most interresting ? Ljubljana or Salzbourg ? And, is there a Ljubljana / Firenze connection?
I hope my post is a the right forum and thanks in advance for your answers!

Alex

Salut Alex.

I personally like both, Salzburg and Ljubljana. In Slovenia you could add Lake Bled: https://rail.cc/en/bled/c

Border crossing Slovenia to Italy is easy, but you have to include a cheap city bus: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
Cross the border, travel to Venice and from there to Florence which is possible by free regional trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/venice-to-florence

thank you!

I have another question, I hope it's the right place to ask it.
I am looking for a train between Prague and Firenze. It says we need to take a train to Nuremberg at 3 pm, then go to Munich and finally, take a night train to Firenze. I saw it here ! (great website by the way! I'll book everything from here I think!)
I also just read the night train part, when you travel after 7 pm and you arrive after 4 am, the day when you arrive is considered as your day of travel. So I was wondering, taking this train from Prague to Nuremberg and Munich will be considered as 2 days? Because I take the train in Prague at 3 pm. Or is it possible to say no, it's just one day of travel since I leave Prague to go to Firenze (I don't really know how to explain it sorry!)

thanks your help and this amazing website! :D

Hi.
There are several ways from Prague to Florence.
You can also travel the direct way from Prague to Munich: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/prague-to-munich
And then by night train to Florence: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-rome-cnl-485/35
For the night train I recommend to make several days in advance, as it is often booked out in the summer months. And I recommend a couchette. How to make the reservation, see bellow the map by following the link above.
Thank you for supporting our work with your purchase. :)
Peter :)
