Hi guys,

It says that this route doesn't need a reservation but on SBB and DB Bahn is suggests otherwise?

Has anyone experienced this route or can clarify this?

Hi!

The Zagreb - Belgrade train is shown as part of the Zurich - Belgrade night train, the latter having compulsory reservation for travels to/from Zurich. In fact, only one single carriage runs through all the way from Zurich to Belgrade, couchette and sleeping cars are detached in Zagreb, where additional seating cars and a restaurant car are attached.
Since the online schedule planners are not 100% accurate in regard of train details, such as reservation info, it is shown that there is compulsory reservation also for the part from Zagreb to Belgrade which in reality is not true.
Anyway, since it is the only train on this route at the moment and likely to be full it is a good idea to be at the station in time to secure a seat. ;)

Similar situation with the Bratislava - Budapest connections: These trains have compulsory reservation only for domestic travels within Hungary but due to the not very accurate dealing with data it is shown as having compulsory reservation on the whole route.

So - don't worry, get there early and just board the train? :)

Thanks Flo!
