Hello!!
I'm off interrailing for 2 months around Europe as of April, and I was wondering whether I would need to book all my hostel accommodation in advance, or whether I can turn up on the day, look around a few hostels, and expect to find a free bed?
I really want the flexibility that an InterRail pass allows which I wouldn't have If all my accommodation was pre-booked, but at the same time I don't want to spend all my time searching for a bed that night (and possibly being ripped off because of it).
If anyone's got any personal experience that would be brilliant!!

Hi!
On a two month long IR trip you certainly wont have to book everything in advance! Since you start in April you will avoid peak season and should not have troubles finding a free bed.
The standard procedure would be to book the hostel for your next destination from the hostel you're staying at at your current location the day before you leave. If you go to a city without having prebooked it is a good idea to have ready a list of a handful of places to check out so that you wont have to search around for ages until you find a decent place to stay (while compiling such a list you can also check how many beds are still available and decide whether you want to book in advance or not).
The ratings on sites such as [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] are usually a good guidance.
