I´m breaking out this question, couldn´t find it in the forum and thought it might be of value for the futre if it is in a separate thread.
I´ve been trying to figure out our way from Luzern to Interlaken and is very grateful for all the information here, still there is something that seems odd..
Step 1: Luzern - Interlaken Ost, the time table on golden pass line website says departure time 7.55, If i search on golden pass line web site for reservations it says departure time 8.05 - same train number :o SBB site says 08.05 What to think?
Step 2: Interlaken ost - Spiez : was just planning to take ICE 278 this part - it is only 20 minutes, but I guess there is no way to avoid this interchange? Is 5 minutes enough to change trains in Interlaken? Does it require a reservation?
Step 3: Spiez - Brig (Visp) As recommended by you I found the Lötschberger route and the timetable - but I have problems reading it :| http://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/fileadmin/fap_pdf_fields/2014/330.pdf Is it correct that We can take this train 11.12 from Speiz on the 2nd of July? This train arrives in Brig 12.24, But since we are going to Zermatt it would be best to deboard in Visp and the train should pass there? But it is not in the time schedule, is the train stopping in Visp or do we have to go to Brig and then back again? We need reservations for this leg - right? We will have approx 45 minutes in Speiz, is that enough for bying the tickets? Should we reserve in advance?
Step 4 Brig (Visp) - Zermatt: If i search on SBB site (interlaken-zermatt via Goppenstein) it wants me to go by foot from Brig to Brig Bahnhofplats, Is the RE lötschberger train arriving in a different station in Brig than the Train to Zermatt leaves from? When searching on bahn-website I get two different trains, one direct train from Bahnhofplats and one with a train change in Visp (6 minutes). We will probably have 25 minutes or so in Brig, the distance is marked as 4-7minutes walk but I guess that does not include one 4-yearold with legs that suddenly does not work ;) So, what is the distance in meters? Which is the best option here?
Planning of this trip is giving me headace - and what did people do before Internet? :D

Additional question:
Lötschberger line - included in Interrail but we need to pay 50% if we travel with Swiss Pass? Or have I misunderstood the map on www.stc.ch/download/pdf/uebersichtskarte_en.pdf

Hej!
1) 0805 - check Fahrplanfelder (table 470)
2) If you want to go Interlaken - Visp/Brig, you'll have to change in Spiez. Sit on the right hand side from Interlaken to Spiez. Yeah, 5 minutes is short, but enough - usually it is a cross-platform interchange, so you wont even have to use the underpass. No reservation needed.
3) Yes, the 1112 departure runs daily. Yes, arrival is at 1224 in Brig. No, the Lötschberger service does not stop at Visp (but you can see the station of Visp from up above if you sit on the right hand side again ;) ). No reservation needed for the Lötschberger service.
4) Brig Bahnhofplatz is directly in front of the station (station square). This is the stop for the narrow gauge MGB (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn) trains to Visp - Zermatt and Andermatt. The Lötschberger service (and all other SBB and BLS operated trains) arrive in the proper station.
It is no problem to change trains here, but since there are frequent trains from Brig to Visp and onwards to Zermatt it is no problem to wait and not rush for the immediate connection. The actual distance depends on where you stay on the Lötschberger train but I would say max 200-300 metres...
5) All passes are fully valid on BLS/Lötschberger services. The dashed lines on the map are tunnels. ;)
There are two lines from Spiez to Visp/Brig: The older route via Lötschberg pass runs across the mountains directly to Brig; as mentioned above you can see Visp down in the valley from the train.
The newer line runs through Lötschberg base tunnel to Visp and joins the Lausanne - Brig line there. All InterCity trains take this route as it is much faster - but you dont have the nice viewsof the pass route.

Yes, I figured out one of the dotted lines is tunnels, but If you look closely to the line between Kandersteg and Goppenstein it has another dotted line and and the bottom of the map it says you get 50% discount on this line? Maybe that is old information?
Does it matter if i take the MGB-train to Zermatt or just the standard one?

Kandersteg - Goppenstein is a red dashed line, this is the old Lötschberg tunnel; I was a bit unclear: There are two lines, the old one running via Kandersteg - old Lötschberg tunnel - Goppenstein to Brig, the other one running through the Lötschberg base tunnel to Visp, then to Brig.
From Visp to Zermatt, MGB is the only operator.
MGB Network: Disentis/Mustér - Andermatt - Brig - Visp - Zermatt and Andermatt - Göschenen

Great! Then I´m with you :D
It would then proabably be better to take the walk in Brig and then not have to change trains in Visp I think.
