I'm planning my first interrail trip for my 21st next year along with a friend for 3 weeks. It's going to be a 10 day in 22 days trip.

We are both students and have been trying to work out how much we will have to save up over summer for a 3 week trip next year and what routes to take, so far this has been raised as a possible route as shes not too keen on Germany and i'm not too interested in going across France

Prague - Budapest - Zagreb - Venice - Milan - Rome - Naples

Do you guys think this is a do able trip and have any idea the amount of money per a day needed, as i said we are students so we are perfectly happy skimping on food with beans and pasta and are more interested in sights than the food

Hi!

Since you are going only next year there is still plenty of time to think about and plan your trip and I wouldnt be surprised if you'd come up with a new or altered route until then.

Just a few thoughts:
Seems like a pretty straightforward route with no big troubles to be expected. Crossing the border from Slovenia to Italy can be awkward as there are no through trains across the border at the moment but this is not really a problem.
Anyway, you might consider taking the night train to Switzerland instead to incorporate this alpine crossing into your route: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
From Milano you could then continue to Venezia - Roma - Napoli.

Maybe also try to include a few other stops along the route or daytrips to make most use out of your 10 travel days - this of course depends on how long you want to spend in each city.

Money per day is always hard to tell but expect an average of about 20€ for a bed in a hostel dormitory and maybe 10€ for food; overall I'd calculate with maybe 35€ per day.
Since accomodation usually is the most expensive part on the list, maybe have a look at hostel rates in each place beforehand to get an impression of the prices and adapt your budget accordingly.
