Hi,

Malpensa Express is operated by Trenord, however a special tariff applies. Information about InterRail validity on Trenord services was conflicting during the last year but it has been confirmed that InterRail is valid on Trenord services (although Trenord support apparently does not know of this yet).
I cant give you proof that IR is valid on Malpensa Express - best thing to do would be to ask locally before you board the train. Alternatively you can get a shuttle bus to Gallarate and take a Trenord service from there.

It'd be great to hear your experience on that issue afterwards.

1.the main trains-ev30mins do NOT run to Centrale, but P.Garibaldi, the original main base of FNM.
2.there were a few FS-superfast treni extended to MXP-but I think these have been cancelled due to low demand. Check timetable. IF they run, you pay the normal 10 eur extra.
3.IR is definitely NOT valid on the TreNord-ex FNM treni as in 1.
4.cheapest, easiest and fastest are the very frequent BUSes-by 2 companies, you cannot miss them at airppt, for7 or8 eur/single. Often there are prezzi promozionale, like come 3-pay 2. These end/start at far east end of Centrale stazione.
5.if money is the object and not time-take any local bus at airpt to a real exFS stazioneand then local treni. These are quite infrequent.

Please explain 3) again!

It is no problem for instance to use a train from Porta Garibaldi to Chiasso with InterRail...

last year, I asked the question to the clerk at the train station to see if my Interrail pass is valid for that train and the answer was clear enough :) No.

The train shuttling between malpensa and centrale is not available for interrail pass holders for free. It was 10€ last year in august. I am definitely sure that it was not free of charge.

the way takes like at most an hour and leaves you exactly where you can walk to airport easily.
