I'm planning my first interrail. It's going to be a 10 day in 22 days trip.

I will start it in Lisbon, but i'm not really interested in visit Spain or France because i already know them pretty well

So i was thinking in something like this:

Lisbon - Paris - Munich - Praha - Budapeste - Split - Venice ( return by plane)

Do you think it's doable? Do you recommend any other citys and places to visit?

As i sayed up there in this trip i'm not really interested in visit Paris but i think that's the cheapest and fastest route to get to Germany. Or it's not? :|

Thank you!! :D

I'm a little bit unsure about Split, is it easy do get by train? Or are other costal Croatia citys that equal beauty , but easier and faster to get to?

Thank you, the forum is really great :D

Hi.
Looks good. Note: you will need reservations for Lisbon - Paris (night train and TGV). Also for Paris to Munich if you want to go by fast TGV. An other option could be by night train from Paris to Berlin/Hamburg, if you want to include it. :)
Everything else is easy to do. Just have a look at the schedules, where you will find all connections you travel: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
On your way from Croatia to Italy, maybe have a stop at Lake Bled (https://rail.cc/en/bled/c).
Border crossing to Italy: https://rail.cc/blog/travel-lake-bled-train/
Peter :)

Hej!

Yeah, that'd be the best way to get directly to Venice. If you want to add Lake Bled as suggested by Peter, you could take the train there from Nova Gorica.

You also might think about adding Krakow: Prague - Krakow - Budapest; would be no problem as you should have enough travel days left and it definitely is an interesting city to visit. Personally I also quite like Belgrade which would not be that far off route...

Rijeka itself is not particularly interesting, much less than Split and Dubrovnik. Split has four daily connections to Zagreb in summer; Dubrovnik however is only accesible by bus, not by train.

Depending on your overall time budget and route plans you maybe could even think about going from Budapest to Belgrade, then down to Montenegro > bus to Dubrovnik > bus to Split and continue by train to Zagreb > Venice; a really nice alternative to the trip via Zagreb would be the coastal ferry that runs twice weekly in summer: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/dubrovnik-to-rijeka

I'll think about that, thank you both for the sugestion 8)

I didn't tought about Krakow at my original plan but i would like to go to Auschwitz , so maybe a take a day there!

That real good info, because i was really unsure about goig to Split ( it a little a bit far off route) but now i think i'll surely go there!

That coastal ferry trip seems beautiful, you are making things even harder to decide :D

But again thanks a lot for the idea!

I have one more question. About the reservations, where do i do them?

Per example, i want to make a reservation on this journey: Praga-Budapeste
https://rail.cc/en/interrail/prague-to-budapest

Where can i do it? In Praga train station as soon as get there, okay. But if i want to do it online where should i go?

To Chech Republic train company website or can i acess the link of the journey and book it from there?

I'm sorry if this is a big noob question :|

Hi.
You don't need a reservation for the Prague to Budapest train. If you want to buy one, go to the website of Czech railways: [ux]https://rail.shop/cd[/ux] - then International tickets, then Hungary.
Fill in start and destination, date and time - and select the option supplementary services, reservation.
In the next step, select Seat reservation on the train YES.
It is an e-ticket, simply print it out. Very easy and save.

A general answer is not possible. It depends on the connection. Usually all reservations are available at the station of departure. Some as well online, .... like the one above. :)

In Budapest I can recommend the wombats hostel :)
If you look for a small and familiar hostel, you have to look for another place. It's more like a cheap hotel :)

Same goes with the two St Christophers Inn in Paris - big hostels with not very cosy atmosphere but good facilites and very clean.
