So there are a lot of topics discussing what to take for interrail trips in summer also what to take in winter. But what should I take with me for a trip in february/march? In some countries it might be still very cold and even snow, while in spain portugal temperatures can be up to 15°C.
I plan to go on a trip from 15.02 til 15.03 and I´m not sure what to take? I don´t want to carry to many things with me. I plan to travel trough france, spain portugal and italy mostly and I will start in germany, so what do you think? Route could change, as I maybe want to go to Prague or Cracow. Any advice wich jacket will go well, or wich boots?

I think for the colder regions you should take a warm jacket and insulated boots. For the warmer regions a fleece jacket and sneakers/trainers should do fine.
Over all don`t take too much clothing with you, rather wash from time to time. Many hostels offer washing machines and tumblers.

But what if I go to east europe and then to the south? my warm (and heavy) jacket will be useless in spain, well maybe not completely useless as it might be really cold at night too.
I have got a warm parker but when i go south and it´s over 10°C outside ,it´s already to hot to wear it. My parker would take to much space in my backpack and would be unhandy to carry.
How do others solve this problem? Or can anyone recommend a jacket thats light but keeps warm even if its about 3-5°C?

Humm...I've done a short trip in February for the last few years now; going to Paris and Lisbon in 2010 and 2012, Rome, Palermo and Switzerland in 2011 and Istanbul in 2013.
I usually take just my standard jacket (Jack Wolfskin) with me which is not particularly fit for very cold temperatures but I am fine if I wear a shirt, hoodie/sweater and the jacket. With this outfit I can also bare temperatures around say 5°C or so, if it gets colder I also take a second shirt (Odlo) which really keeps me warm.
I never used my jacket when I was in the south, although in the night/morning it can get quite cold then.
If your parka is too heavy/bulky to take with you I would instead try to take an extra fleece jacket/sweater with you that you could wear under your normal jacket in case it gets cold.
For your main route in Italy - France - Spain - Portugal you wont need very warm clothing unless you get really unlucky with weather - in which case I would just hop on the train and go somewhere else.
I have been to Rome recently and also stopped at Villefranche at the Cote d'Azur and I didnt need a jacket. :)
Talking about boots...I have Waldviertler Tramper which I totally love. They are reasonable warm and if needed I have an extra pair of thick woollen socks with me.

Thank you for answering, flow! I kind of expected something like this and will have a look on some waterproof and lighter jackets then my parker. I also think that layering will be fine and hope to have luck with weather at that time...
