Heyy people :D
Bassically me and my friends are looking to plan a 2-3 month interailling trip across Europe, not too sure as of what countries yet but Portugal, Spain, France, Italy are all on the cards, would love to be going through the cities like madrid, barcelona, cannes, paris, rome, croatia etc.. (Im not very good at geography but i just know i want to see/experience ALOT!)
Are purpose would be too live a incredible experience over the course of a few months from meeting new people/backpackers/people similar to what were doing, seeing amazing sites and just experiencing something new everyday. We like to have fun and would like to go out partying etc. (wouldnt wanna go anywhere too dangerous)
My purpose for signing up to this is to ask if anyone has tips for us? if anyone can relate to what ive just written? would love to hear some peoples stories of the same boat as us. Or if other people are planning to do this same trip around Summer 2014 to hear your plans for it etc?
What are essential items to take? how much stuff should we take? how much money will be needed? will we have to plan sleeping arrangements?
Im sorry ive probably layed this out pretty bad but if anyone can help out it will be massively appreciated!!
THANKS :)

hey,
actually Croatia is not a city, but it doesn't matter :)
If you really like to travel 2 or 3 month you'll have a lot to explore in Europe :)

You nearly meet new people everywhere but as you mentioned you'll find them mostly in hostels in big cities, like Barcelona or some party location. So if you wanna get to know new people you'll find them everywhere. In the earlier days of Interrail people often travelled with foreign people for a while, if they got along with each other. Because of you long journey you may find some other people during your journey or before. E.g. you can use this: https://rail.cc/en/travel-partners

To see amazing sites, you mostly have to go off the beaten track, I think. But you'll find a lot of cool places around the coast. Maybe you have a closer look at other threats in this forum . I can just name you some nice places or regions:
Portugal: Algarve
Spain: Andalusi - some great places: Cadiz, Tarifa + Baelo Claudia, Prado del Rey, Ronda (looks quite nice), Sevilla, Granada, Malaga, Cordoba, Sierra de Grazalema (national parc)
Spain: San Sebastian
Spain/France: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/ Petit Train Jaune (Little Yellow Train)
France: Cote d'azur https://rail.cc/blog/scenic-train-cote-bleue/ Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice, Cannes, Menton, Monaco
Italy: Cinque Terre https://rail.cc/blog/cinque-terre/
Italy: Firenze, Roma, Venice, Siena
Italy: Lake Como
Italy: Lake Garda
Italy: Lake Maggiore
Italy: Sicily https://rail.cc/blog/night-train-sicily/
Italy: Apulia
Italy/Switzerland: https://rail.cc/blog/zurich-milano-albula-bernina/
Croatia: Dubrovnik, Split, Pula
Croatia: Plitvice Lakes National Park https://rail.cc/en/plitvice-lakes/c
These are just some examples and helper to find some possible places :) If you have closer plans, we can go more into detail :)

There are a lot of festivals around in summer. Depends on the music you like.
To name some party locations: Lloret de Mar (spain), Rimini (italy), Ibiza (spain island), Majorca (spain island)
But you'll find clubs and bars in every city.
As it sounds like your first interrail trip, I would recommend to read some tips provide by this website:
will we have to plan sleeping arrangements?
It depends. What's the size of your group? I would recommend to book in advance if you are more than 3. Otherwise you can look for the next arrangements in the city you just arrived. So you'll have a compromise between freedom and strict planning. I think I isn't nice to walk around the city and search for a hostel, instead of chilling at the beach or exploring the city. That's a waste of time, which could be used a lot of better :)
If you want to have private rooms I also would recommend to book in advance.
If you have more question, feel free to ask :)
