Hi there!
I want to make a trip by train through southern Italy and especially Sicily from 26. december until the 5. of january. Has anybody been there? Knows some beautiful tracks... places... (in winter)?

Hi!

Well...I've been to Rome, Palermo and Cefalù in February 2011 and it was great. :)
Depending on how much time you have and your overall route you might also think to travel along the Ionian Coast (Reggio - Catanzaro - Sibari - Metaponto - Taranto) and then to Matera and Lecce...

Hi.
And as you asked by personal mail ... here some hints to get from Basel to Milan...

Direct: change to local train in Chiasso, before the EC train enters Italy. As if you stay in the EC train, you will have to pay a reservation fee of EUR 11.
