Hi everybody! I ' m Fabri from Greece and this is the first time that i m gonna try the experience of the interail...
Me and a spanish friend will beginn our trip from milano in italy around the end of october! We havent bought our tickets yet but from the moment we will be 2 weeks on tour we are thinking to buy the 10 to 22 offer. We are students so we ll try to spend as less as possible.
We are thinking to take night train from there and go to vienna and start our trip like this. Then the places we want to visit are Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and end in Barcelona...if you see the map it seems a nice eurotrip.
1)Do you think that we can do all these cities in two weeks?( we have already place to stay in budapest, berlin and paris so i guess we wont stay a lot in the other cities)
2)I know that i should search myself all the details of the trip but is there anything that you could suggest or warn me about the train connections in these cities? if we don't want to book a cabin should we reserve or pay anything else before? and how we do it?
3) what do you do with the luggage when you stay in one city only for 1 day or something?
i have many questions but i m starting with these ones in order to not be annoying as a rookie!
Thank you in advance! o)

Hi Fabri
Regarding luggage when you are in a city for only one day: if you are coming into, and leaving the city by the same railway station there are usually luggage lockers available at the station. Then you can take only what you need for the day in a small day-pack, and leave the rest in the locker until departure time. Of those cities you mention (including Vienna) I have used the lockers at most. (The only ones I have not been to are Krakow and Barcelona.)
The only other tip is to pack light and take only what you could have as carry-on luggage on an air flight (about 7-8 kg backpack is good). Have your gear packed so that you can easily take out the things you need for the day-pack. I found this worked for a six-week trip using only night trains, arriving early in the day and leaving again in the evening. I did have to wash out my shirt and underwear each night on the train. You could probably do the same if staying at a hostel. I only took three shirts, three pairs of socks and three pairs of underwear and never had any problem.
Enjoy your trip.
Cheers
Richard :D
