Hi,

After a very successful trip around Europe (thanks to railcc and all the advice given) I am now pondering the possibility of travelling from Edinburgh (Scotland) to Kandersteg (Switzerland) as a scout group. We have previously gone by plane but the price has increased dramatically! I would appreciate any advice regarding:

Cost (cheapest options)
Routes (price versus time)
Are there options to purchase tickets through railcc?

This would be for 22 under 16s and 22 over 16s (ten of which are scout leaders). Arriving at Kandersteg 14th July 2014 and departing on the 23rd of July 2014.

Thanks,
The Hoodz :)

p.s. by train of course! o)

Hi.
Still a long time until you travel ... so I can't give you details about prices.
The train trip will take about 14 hours - depends on the connection and date. Might change next year.
Try prices for this year (pre-booking usually up to 3 months in advance) to get an overview.

Edinburgh - London: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/greatbritain[/ux]
London - Paris: [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]
Paris - Basel: [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf[/ux]
Basel - Kandersteg: [ux]https://rail.shop/sbb[/ux]

You should also contact the national railway companies directly and ask for group discounts.

Peter :)
