On the face of things, it all seems well and simple, but once again the complications and general confusing nature of this whole booking system has got to me.

Ideally, we would like to book:
Rome -> Wörgl-> Salzburg
Departing 31 August

3 person sleeper on the Euronight, then getting the Railjet from Wörgl to Salzburg.

On the ItaliaRail site, I got right through the whole booking process before it denied me. Other than that, I have just kept getting blocked with all sorts of random error messages on a few of the sites (including Trenitalia)

Is this because the train is actually fully booked? Or is it just being really difficult?? This whole process is really confusing and any help or guidance would be appreciated.

With it being a month away, have I simply left it too late??

Hi!

We are not the support of other websites.

However, we are official partner of DB, which means you can make all kinds of bookings via [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
Sadly, the train is shown as fully booked on that date.

Anyway, you might think of getting the overnight train to Vienna instead and travel then from Vienna to Salzburg. That way you could sleep much longer which makes especially sense if you want to spend the money on a sleeper.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it. Those night trains are really popular. Looks like I needed to book a five or six months in advance!! :o

Will see that I use your partner links when I get the chance :idea:

Thanks. :)
The problem at the moment is, apart from the train being popular in general, that the German coaches need to be retrofitted with a new door blocking system due to regulations by the Italian authorities and this has caused a shortage of carriages. For instance there are no regular 2nd class seated coaches available until further notice. :(

oh, that might explain half my problem then!! Thanks for the explanation, I saw quite a few posts around the place alluding to this, thought it might be sorted by now.

NO-you cannot even do that. Its just at some busy weekends-northbound end of summer, soutbound start of summer. Problem is more that anyone wants to travel at the very same time.
